On top of the vegetables we also bale hay through the summer and sell it through the winter.  We bale mostly small square bales that are wire tied.  If you can imagine it we actually work in the greenhouse, sell at farm markets and bale hay through the summer.  It makes for a very busy summer here at VanScoy Farms.

If you are in need of hay for your horses, beef cattle, or dairy cattle or any other farm animal we have something to fill your requirements. Below is a list of what we have and the prices of it.  We also offer delivery and can unload it into your barn if you need us to.

1st cutting Small Square Bales that are 75% Orchard Grass 25% Alfalfa that are $3.75 a bale.

1st cutting Round Bales that are 75% ORchard Grass 25% Alfalfa.  They are 4X4 ft and net wrapped and cost $30 a bale.

3rd and 4th cutting Small Square Bales that are 75% alfalfa 25% Orchard Grass.  These are a little faded so they are discounted to $4.00 a bale.

3rd and 4th cutting Small Square Bales that are 75% alfalfa 25% Orchard Grass.  These are high quality bales and are $5.50 a bale.

If you are in need of some hay feel free to give us a call at 937-363-3205.

Thank you for your interest from everyone at VanScoy Farms.

While some may consider January a slow time of year, we’re still feeling festive--and we're gearing up for a great 2011 growing season. Early last year we hosted an event at House Wine in Worthington and it was such a rousing success that we’re back to do it again, and we've invited a few of our friends. The event is open to everyone. Whether you’re a current member of the Wayward family, a CSA newcomer or just simply curious about local farming, please join us! (And bring your friends!)

The event will be held Thursday, January 27th from 6-9pm at House Wine in Worthington. The wine tasting is $15, but not required to attend, and customers can taste at their own pace. Reservations are not required. Also, there will be plenty of free parking. For more information, including directions, please email us or visit www.housewine.biz.

Our family has always been very involved in the business and have used the greenhouse as their FFA project.  Thanks to this Wesley and Matthew have won several state and national awards throughout their highschool career.  Also our youngest son Phillip has started his projects and will hopefully be winning some awards of his own here in the next couple years.  Also our farm has hosted the 2005 National Hyrdoponic Tour and several Farm Bureau Tours since we built the greenhouse in 2004.  Here are some of the awards that Wesley and Matthew have won.

Current and potential CSA Subscribers

We have changed our CSA a little bit this year to accomadate some suggestions we have had from our current share holders and potential share holders.  We have extended our CSA to a 30 week offering all at once.  The full 30 weeks is divided into 10 week increments that can be signed up for individually.  This is to accomadate the main complaint that our CSA runs through garden season so it discourages some from purchase.  With this set up you can sign up for weeks 1-10 which will be before the average garden season.  Then skip weeks 11-20 to eat out of your own garden and sign up for weeks 21-30 to have fresh produce from Fall to Christmas.  Or if you don't have a garden you can sign up for all 30 weeks.  Also many said that the share was just to large for them to use everything in a week.  In response to this we have reduced the amount of produce per week for the summer months to a little bit bigger than our current fall CSA.  The price is set at $25 a week which equals $250 for each 10 week segment. Also we have a $50 discount to those who purchase a full 30 weeks and pay for it before December 15, 2010.

Thank You for Your Consideration
